My work as a digital media artist focuses on creating alternative relationships between audio, video and text that take the form of multi-channel installations, single-channel videos and audiovisual performance. The psychology of male identity, the tensions between mental and physical states, and mass media effects on the individual are explored throughout my work. A multi-channel display format is often used that allows for graphic, thematic and contrasting relationships between the screens that are synchronized and orchestrated like a musical composition. I draw upon my experience as a musician and filmmaker to fuse these two worlds within a contemporary art context. My interest is in using conceptual systems of juxtaposition, categorization and randomness as a narrative structure versus conventional narrative arcs and character development.
